Party of 3 went for lunch on a Sunday in September. We reached around 12:30pm and the place had only one other table occupied. The hostess was very friendly and answered all our questions patiently. The food was really high quality. We had the veggie momos and paneer pakoras to start. Both were 8 pieces each, so enough for 3 people. Couple of us had the hot chiya (chai) which was very nice and authentic tasting. I had the chicken thali with spice level 6, which was just about right for me - I can't tolerate very spicy food any more. Chicken thali comes with choice of one vegetarian dish, for which I picked the bhindi (okra) and that was delicious. Thali comes with ample rice, a basket of naan, pickles, daal, and a gulabjamun. Brought enough leftovers home to make one more full meal out of it. Others in my group had a veggie thali with Aloo Bhanta and Mismas Tarkari, and garlic naan plus Aloo Cauli Ko Tarkari. Everything was great, and I especially liked the eggplant from the Bhanta even though I'm not usually a fan of this vegetable. The restaurant is clean, with nice decor. They also served us soup on the house, but it was just daal. Total including tips and taxes came to 37$ per person, which is a great deal I think. Highly recommend the thalis for the price.
What a meal we had at Himalayan Delights in Newport Beach yesterday! Everything was flavorful and a treat for the senses. Jana was our server and we went with her recommendations. I was curious about the Himalayan momo dumplings but was afraid of the chili version. As most of you know, I'm probably the only Thai person who cannot eat spicy at all. Jana ensured me it the "chili" was more like a sweet pepper sauce. I trusted her and it really wasn't spicy at all. A delicious glaze over the gyoza-like chicken-filled dumplings. Definintely a hit for us. Butter chicken was rich, tender, and flavorful. The heat can be adjusted up or down to your liking, and they will take it back and fix it too. The right heat for B was too much for me. However, I happily dunked the cherries and peanut stuffed naan in the sauce and lived to eat another day. Yeah, you heard me! Cherries and peanut stuffed naan! The sweet-savory Badami naan is stuffed with pureed cherries and peanuts and I cannot stop eating it, especially dunked into the creamy, spicy butter chicken. Sure, garlic naan is nice but these cherry-peanut naan is a whole other level. And Pièce de résistance is the show stopping Behra Ko Karang, rack of lamb marinated in yogurt and spices, cooked in the tandoor and served with vegetable on a sizzling plate. The beautiful Himalayan fajitas arrived sizzingling and I couldn't be happier! The most tender and flavorful lamb, cooked perfectly, on the bed of lightly charred veggies. A squeeze of lime.sealed the deal. I ate the lamb by itself, then with the rice, then with the badami naan and I could die right then and be okay with it. Washing it all down was their house lemonade, made fresh with a touch of lime, ginger, sugar, and spices. A little on the sweet to start but mellows out as the ice melt and what a perfect relief to quench the butter chicken fire from earlier. LOL Brandon ordered their chai and was happy about his choice as well. We will be back again for sure and we'd love to just bring y'all with us. So many more dishes to explore! Jana said I definitely have to try their biryani next. Sold, Jana. Sold.
One of the few Indian/Nepalese spots close to Newport Beach—and definitely worth checking out! We tried the chicken and mutton biryani, and both were excellent. The rice was perfectly cooked and well-blended with the masala. The roti and aloo parotta were also fresh and flavorful. Overall, a really satisfying experience—great food, decent portions, and not too expensive. Will definitely be back!

What a lovely surprise! We had been eyeing Himalayan Delights since it opened and finally ordered take out a few months ago. It’s been on repeat ever since! We have tried the butter chicken, chicken korma, chicken tikka masala, tandoori, naan, and our absolute favorite is the chicken momo!! Omg it’s amazing. Wonderful service, delicious and authentic food….it’s our go-to for Indian/Nepalese. Must try!
