I visited Taste of Himalayas in La Jolla for the first time, and it instantly became one of my favorite restaurants. As a Nepali person, I was blown away by how authentic the food was. I had the best momo of my life here, perfectly steamed, flavorful, and just like the momos back home. Their achars taste exactly like the ones you find on the streets of Kathmandu, which made the experience even more special. The employees were the sweetest and most welcoming people, and the service made me feel right at home. The restaurant also has a beautiful ocean overlooking view, which made the experience unforgettable. If you are craving Nepali or Indian food, or want to try something new and delicious, you must visit Taste of Himalayas. This place is truly a gem!
Worst food ever. The lady at the reception suggested lamb tarkari worst lamb curry. Just 4 pieces that too pieces with chunks of fat and only gravy. Also took kadai chicken never had such pathetic chicken curry. Took plain paratha which was stale, burnt and tasteless. It was definitely reheated food. I would recommend not to visit this place.
Been down here in the area for the last 3 days. Came in for the lunch special - no longer offered. But itβs okay, I ordered the chicken Kora? (Curry dish) had an idea of what I was getting lol Absolutely delicious π flavorful and appropriately priced compared to anywhere else here in La Jolla. Portion was just right, especially if youβre into the balsamic rice. I ate the rice proportionally with the curry. Filled me up. And my body feels good after eating. I totally π recommend this place as a casual drop in for authentic flavors and atmosphere. This is a small family owned place- think like your stepping into another part of the world π here and youβll really appreciate the humble surroundings and attention the family recipes.
Portions are too small for the price, especially compared to typical Indian food. One person serving 6β7 tables made the service slow. Not great value for money.
We were looking for something different after eating sushi and Mexican food several times. This place was great! The mild dishes were still tasty, and actually very mild. The waitress was efficient and genuinely friendly. We had expected to pay more than our past few dinners, since we were in La Jolla, but it wasn't!
