Taste of the Himalayas

While on spring break, my son and I stopped by Taste of the Himalayas, located in a charming shared village setting in Carlsbad. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the host and seated right away. The environment was very family-friendly, with both indoor and outdoor seating available (outdoor spaces were cozy with nearby heaters, perfect for the 65° weather). I ordered the tandoori chicken while my son went with his go-to, chicken tikka masala. We also enjoyed a chai tea and his favorite, a mango lassi, which didn’t disappoint! The flavors were rich, comforting, and clearly made with care. We appreciated being able to pay with cash, and the overall experience was spontaneous yet memorable. Thank you to the staff for your wonderful hospitality and for sharing such a beautiful culture through your food and service.

This is our favorite place for Indian food. The dishes are fresh and flavorful. The service is always very friendly and attentive. This time they served a complimentary split pea soup to start. We ordered the garlic cilantro naan and raita. For main courses we ordered the Chicken Achari and Chicken Kadai. Both were delicious. We ordered 6 and 8 spice levels and this was definitely spicy. I can't wait to go back again.

A lovely restaurant in Carlsbad, just a short walk from the beach, with plenty of parking nearby. If you’re craving authentic Nepalese flavors, this is a fantastic spot to try. I ordered the goat curry, which was absolutely finger-licking delicious, paired perfectly with their garlic naan and a Himalayan beer. We also enjoyed the yellow daal, aloo parantha, and their warm, comforting chai. The restaurant has a cozy ambiance, making it a great place to relax and enjoy dinner. Clean restrooms and convenient parking around the village fair area make the experience even better. Overall, a hidden gem worth visiting when in Carlsbad.

Not a lot is open late for food in Carlsbad so we stumbled upon this spot and could not have lucked out more! The food was incredible but the staff made the experience even better. Everything was served quickly and adjusted to each of our spice levels. I was with my vegan girlfriend and everything was clearly pointed out to her on the menu. The waitress also asked if she could put us on their Instagram stories and it was so fun to see they capture everyone. I couldn’t recommend more!
